CROSSWAVE NORTH & BRIMBRETTAFÉLAG ÍSLANDS
In collaboration with the Icelandic surfing society and Crosswave, I created the artwork for a film premiere event aimed at raising awareness about the environmental and cultural impacts of industrial expansion in a small town in Iceland, Þorlákshöfn.
The main goal was to bring together nature enthusiasts, locals and influential politicians to start a dialogue on preserving a surf break which is enjoyed by locals as well as people from all over the world.
The brainstorm session involved footage from the area, gathering inspiration and deciding on a color palette. From there, I created 3 concepts for the poster artwork.
We wanted to highlight the wave and an arctic surfer in a dynamic and colorful way, with the industrial developments looming above, threatening to take it down.
Despite the tight turnaround and little time for promotion the event was a huge success. The cinema was packed - with people sitting on the floor and standing in the doorways. The film featured professional surfers and world-renowned adventure photographer Chris Burkard, who also attended to show support.
